Our family has lost a gentle, caring heart and the glue that held us
together. Mary passed away due to a stroke at the Brantford
General Hospital on Saturday June 11, 2016 in her 95th year.
Beloved wife of the late Allan Cameron Ionson (1978). Much
loved mother of Marjorie (Brian) Ellis, the late Allan Duncan (the
late June), the late Sheila (the late Jack) Cox and Donna (Alan)
English. Cherished grandmother of Darrell, Chris, Jeff, Terry, the
late Nancy, Katherine, Norma, Elizabeth, Susan, the late Allan,
William, Monica, Nicole, Denise and Trevor. Proud great-
grandmother of 31 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-
grandchildren. She was especially fond of her friends Iva and
Howard. Mary was the last of Frank and Lettie Book’s 15 children
to pass away and she will be dearly remembered by many extended
family members and friends. She was always ready and willing to
help others. One of Mary’s favourite things to do was to listen and
dance to the Waterdown Fiddlers on Thursday’s, and visit with the
many friends she made there. She enjoyed having many colourful
flower gardens and watching the Blue Jays. The family will
receive friends at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55
Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Tuesday June 14, 2016 from 2-
4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home
chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Greenwood
Cemetery, Waterford. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of
Mary can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario,
the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
