Thomas "Tom"  Oldham
Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the Brantford General Hospital on Thursday, August 20, 2015 in his 76th year. Dear husband of Pauline for 55 years. Loving father of Tom and Lynn and Stephen and Katie. Beloved grandfather of Nancy, Pam, Dallas, Thomas and Paige and great-grandfather to Chloe, Ella, Payton, Eryn and Alana. Sadly missed by his siblings George (Sally), Ann (Colin) and sister-in-law Susan (Kevin) Arrowsmith all of England. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Kathleen, sister Kathleen and daughter-in-law Wendy. Tom was a former member of Doric Masonic Lodge AF&AM, a current member of Dunsdon Legion #461 and was well known in the trade labour movement across Canada being the former Secretary-Treasurer of the Brick and Allied Craft Union of Canada from which he retired. He sat on numerous Boards and Commissions both locally and provincially including the Family Service Bureau, Construction Safety Association, Ontario Apprenticeship Council, Canada Employment Board of Referees, The Terrazzo Tile & Marble Trade School, The Ontario Masonry Training Centre, Clock Tower Committee and Freeport Hospital in the City of Kitchener and Property Standards Committee City of Brantford. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, Drs. Whitton and Torres-Trejo and the staff of palliative care of the Brantford General Hospital. Friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Service in the chapel on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11 am. Interment Farringdon Burial Ground. Donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
